Heat Safety

Understanding heat safety is important for anyone working in a hot environment or those who are around work equipment that can cause burns and other heat-related injuries. Direct contact with hot objects can be avoided by wearing protective workwear, like gloves and welding masks. When you’re out under direct sunlight for long periods of time, wearing sunscreen isn’t always enough. Wearing safety sunglasses, breathable work clothes, and hats can help you stay cool and protected, and staying hydrated is one of the most important parts to avoiding heat-related illnesses.

Maybe you already wear Bulwark FR workwear. It's durable, flame-resistant, and it keeps you safe, so it makes perfect sense. Does that one layer meet your workplace safety requirements completely though? Bulwark has developed its very own Layered Arc Rating Calculator to help you figure out if you're properly guarded against fire hazards. You simply enter a product number to locate the item you have, and then select your desired Layered Arc Rating. If you're not meeting requirements yet, the Bulwark Calculator suggests what you need to add to your existing work clothes to make sure you're totally compliant with your work safety requirements. Working Person's Store is having a Bulwark clothing sale for a limited time. It's time to stock [...]

From the very beginning, Working Person’s Store has been committed to providing high quality workwear to those with the harshest jobs out there. Working around fire hazards is risky business. From raincoats, accessories, jackets, and overalls to shirts (check out our own brand of fire-resistant shirts!) and even underwear, we offer flame-resistant options to literally cover you from head to toe. Our FR products meet standards ranging from ASTM, OSHA, and other safety compliances to keep you guarded. There are a variety of fabric styles to meet your specific [...]

Summer’s coming, so we thought it was about the right time to share what we know about keeping cool at work, as the temperature rises. It’s all too easy to think that all you need to do is lather on the suntan lotion and you’re good to get out there, but it’s not always that simple. Although a lot of jobs are outdoors and do require that you take plenty of precautions if you’re going to be exposed to the sun all day, a bigger danger present in most lines of work is heat stress. And that can happen outdoors, working on the construction sites, in maintenance, landscaping and agriculture, but it is an indoor problem too. If you work in commercial kitchens, laundries or factories, you need to take care this summer. Why? Well according [...]
